Opustone and Habitat for Humanity Team Up for the South Florida Community
Premier Stone Supplier Participates in Team Build in Homestead, Fla.
Opustone Granite & Marble partnered with Habitat for Humanity January 10, 2009 for a Team Build in Homestead, Fla.
“Opustone has long been a staple in the South Florida community as a thriving business built on a foundation of positive values,” said Eric Schigiel, Vice President and Co-Founder / Owner of the premier stone supplier. “But as a business, success is not only measured by the bottom line, but also by the relationships you build with the community around you. Participating in the Habitat for Humanity Team Build was not only an effort to give back to the community that has so strongly supported us, but also a chance to build our team moral. We are truly proud to have been a part of it all.”
Twenty four Opustone Granite & Marble employees and more than 100 other community volunteers worked together in the construction of 19 homes in the Homestead community. Families within the Princeton Community benefiting from the Team Build were also on site to lend a helping hand. In addition to the Team Build, Opustone Granite & Marble also donated more than $2,500 worth of building and home design materials to Habitat ReStores, a retail outlet where quality used and surplus building materials are sold at a fraction of the regular price. Proceeds from the sale of these materials help local affiliates fund the construction of Habitat houses within the community.
Habitat for Humanity International is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry. Habitat seeks to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the world and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action. Habitat has built more than 300,000 houses around the world, providing more than 1.5 million people in more than 3,000 communities with safe, decent, affordable shelter.
